How to run Contact Expert server components as a specific user
To run Contact Expert server components as a specific technical/service user account, please follow the instructions below.
Step-by-step guide
- Create a user account in the corporate Active Directory which will be used to run Contact Expert server components.
- Log on to the CE Core Host.
- Stop all Contact Expert server components in CE Server Manager.
- Stop all Contact Expert services in Windows Services.
Set the Log On As property to the user account just created for each Contact Expert service in Windows Services:
- Right click the service and select Properties
- Click the Log On tab, choose the This account option and fill the input fields accordingly
Run Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager
Set the Identity property of each Contact Expert application pool.
Note
Please note that the default application pool might run Contact Expert web applications, however changing its identity might corrupt other 3rd party web applications which uses the default application pool as well.
Make sure that the user account used by the application pools has permission to access the folders in the file system where the Contact Expert web applications are located.
- Right click the application pool and select Advanced settings....
- In the Process Model section, edit the Identity field, select the Custom account option and enter the details of the user account.
- Set the Physical Path Credentials property of each Contact Expert web application.
- Select the web application in the Connections pane.
- Select Advanced settings... in the Actions pane.
- In the General section, edit the Physical Path Credentials field, choose the Specific user option and enter the details of the user account.
- Set the Anonymous Authentication property of each Contact Expert web application
- Select the web application in the Connections pane.
- Select Authentication in the Feature View.
- Right click the Anonymous Authentication item and select Edit....
- Choose the Specific user option and enter the details of the user account.
- Start all Contact Expert services having the Startup Type property set to Automatic in Windows Services.
- Start all Contact Expert server components in CE Server Manager
