How to enable Windows Authentication for Contact Expert Part III - Address Book Service
This guide describes how to enable Windows Authentication for the Address Book service in Contact Expert.
This article covers Address Book configuration steps needed for Contact Expert systems set up for Windows authentication. It does not cover configuration for connecting to the external LDAP services via Windows authentication.
Step-by-step guide
- Create or reuse a CE service running user account in Active Directory, or local Windows user accounts if no corporate domain is in use. If you already created and configured an AD user account for the CE Agent Dashboard, than you can freely reuse that here. You don't need to create separate accounts for the various CE components.
- Create or reuse a new user account in Contact Expert with the same name as this Active Directory user account. Set the following CE properties for the user:
- Assign the SuperAdmin role.
- Set the hierarchy level to Full Access.
- Log in to the CE Core Host computer.
- Run Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager.
- Open the Application Pools node in the Connections pane.
- Right-click the AddressBookPool element and select Advanced settings... item.
- Click the Identity property in the Process Model section and change it to reflect the newly created or reused AD account.
- Open the Web.config file located in the [CE install path]\AddressBook folder (C:\Geomant\CE\AdressBook by default).
Change the value of the "ManagementService.UseWindowsAuthentication" property to true, save and close the file.
<add key="ManagementService.UseWindowsAuthentication" value="true"/>
