How to Shutdown and Restart CE, OnCall IVR and SQL host
Sometimes CE fails to start up correctly when the restart procedure was inappropriate (e.g.: the server was shut down without stopping all components or the shut down was initiated from outside of the OS).
Please be aware that in order to restart CE and IVR hosts you do not normally need to restart the MS SQL host. Database can host data for different live applications.
Step-by-step guide
Shutdown Process
Logon onto the IVR server and stop the below three Windows services in the following order.
- Geomant IVR Endpoint Service
- Geomant IVR Node Service
- Geomant IVR License Server
Logon onto the CE server and locate CE Tools folder on the desktop and open the CE Server Manager tool.
- Right click on the server fqdn and stop all the components (wait until they all turn red)
- Open up Windows services menu and stop the CE Server Agent service
- Open task manager and make sure all components and services have stopped (kill all CE/IVR hanging components).
- Shut down/restart the server.
Logon onto the SQL server and shut down/restart the host (no need to stop any services).
Startup Process
Power up the SQL server (using its Hostname) and confirm if all SQL Windows services are running.
Start up and logon onto the IVR server and start the below three Windows services manually in the following order if auto start is not enabled:
- Geomant IVR License Server
- Geomant IVR Node Service
- Geomant IVR Endpoint Service
Start up and log on to the CE server, then start CE Server Agent Windows service if not set to automatic start. This will start all the CE components.
Health-check After Restart
- Make sure all CE and IVR related Windows services have started up.
- Open CE Server Manager and make sure all the components turned green (green pipe icon).
- Make sure CE portal and the IVR Admin page are accessible.
